Women’s Line & Seta’s Trans Support Center: Online Peer Support Group for Transfeminine People Who Have Experienced Violence

In the spring of 2017, Women’s Line and Seta’s Transgender Support Center collaborated by organizing the first online peer support group for transfeminine people who have experienced violence in Finland. When it comes to tackling gendered violence and violence against women, it is of utmost importance to take gender diversity into account, and to offer services that take into account the specific needs of diverse women. Transfeminine people make up one of the most vulnerable groups of women, but the violence services allocated to them are alarmingly few. The online peer support group tailored for transfeminine people offered information and provided support related to violence targeting transfeminine people, and recovering from violence.
